Advanced Acoustic and Fire Control Assemblies and Systems

The Hybrid Steel Framing, Inc. team specializes in the most effective and economical acoustical and fire rated assemblies available.  These assemblies replace ineffective methods, commonly used, such as resilient channels, sound clips, staggered or double studded walls, extra layers of Gypsum boards, etc.

Resilient furring channels are particularly prone to installation mistakes; any ”hard” connections between the Gypsum board and the studs will reduce the assemblies’ flexibility and thus virtually eliminate the expected benefit of sound transmission loss.  Other existing solutions rely on adding multiple layers of Gypsum board to increase mass.  All of these solutions involve added material and labor cost and result in deeper wall cavities which consumes extremely valuable floor space, i.e. rental space or sellable space.  This could result in the loss of millions of dollars in rental income and valuable sellable space.

The Hybrid  Steel Framing, Inc.  assemblies are configured to match each project’s  exact requirements for different sections of each building.  Because of the advanced technologies and methods that our team uses, higher STC, IIC and fire rated assemblies can be achieved more efficiently and economically.

The majority  of the Hybrid Steel Framing, Inc. assemblies include all of the following:

  • All structural issues
  • One hour and two hour UL fire rating
  • High sound transmission class (STC) rating
  • High impact insulation class (IIC) rating
  • High R-value insulation for energy efficiency
  • Complete structural and acoustical engineering services

The major adantages of the Hybrid Steel Framing, Inc. assemblies are:

  • Lower material and labor cost
  • Approved for non-combustible buildings
  • Valuable interior space savings
    •  Dramatically increasing rental and sales profit
  • Eliminates installation errors that could significantly reduce performance
    •  Could eliminate possible litigation for improper sound control
  • These assemblies are considered Green building systems and are LEED points contributors

Additional Fire Control Systems

Fire Resistance and Fire Protection Glass Systems

The Hybrid Steel Framing team also offers a complete line of solutions and systems for your fire rated glass applications.  Modern functional glazings have opened up a vast realm of creative possibilities for today's architecture.  Transparent designs from facades and roofs right through to the core of the building is no longer a vision.  It is a reality.

Where solid roofs, doors and walls block out views and natural light, state-of-the-art fire resistance and fire protection rated glazings can now be used to provide a protected and comfortable environment based on daylighting and clear vision without sacrificing fire resistance or fire protection properties.

Glass combinations for any glazing situations are offered and are designed to be combined with the full range of glasses as monolithic glazing or in insulating glass units for varied building situations.  This allows flexibility of design and aesthetics, and permits optimization of thermal insulation, solar control, acoustic insulation, safety and security properties - all with built-in high performance fire protection.

Glass can play a major part in the control of fire in buildings.  It is not necessary to build opaque walls to restrict fires and the spread of flame.  A complete range of glass systems are offered that allows glass to be used to give extended fire protection both in internal screens and external windows.  Fire rated glass lets natural light into the building with all the benefits that comes with it.

Externally the insulating glass units also provide thermal insulation.  In the event of a fire the glazing can be designed to protect adjacent buildings and fire break out from one floor to another via the outside of the building.

Fully Glazed Transparent Wall

An entire fully glazed 60, 90 or 120 minute fire rated wall uninterrupted by vertical framing.

Each panel of the fire rated glazing is separated by a slim silicone caulking, offering truly free and open vision for your projects.

This elegant transparent wall is ideal where safety, security and uninterrupted viewing is desired.

These technically advanced glazing systems block radiant heat transfer to meet ASTM E119 requirements when used with our equally rated heat barrier framing system. These systems provide floor-to-ceiling and wall-to-wall design flexibility with unsurpassed clarity and the added benefit of sound reduction.

 Curtain Walls

The curtain wall method of glazing allows glass to be used in large uninterrupted areas creating consistent attractive facades.  The flexibility and choice allows the designer to control every aspect of the performance from thermal to solar considerations and ultimately the design statement for the building.

These systems offer high light transmission with solar control and retain the natural look with neutral appearance glass products.  At the other extreme we can restrict light and solar gain in varying proportions and add color or reflections into the products.

Entrance Doors

The entrance to a building is the opportunity to make a statement about the building or the client.  With glass, the entrance can be open and inviting, but at the same time glass can be used to control access, provide impact resistance including security, and be an element in the energy strategy of the building.  Our doors are in compliance with international building codes.

Fire Escapes

Various fire rated glazings can be incorporated into the fire escape design.

Internal Fire Corridor

The provision of escape routes or the subdivision of areas within a building can save lives and business essential areas from fire.  Containing a fire to a specific area can mean the difference between losing the building and being able to continue business with minimal damages.  Corridors and compartments need not to be gloomy artificially lit areas.  Glass can be used to allow light and vision with predictable fire performance.  Fire routes not only let people escape but can also allow the emergency services in to get to the critical areas.

Our range of fire rated products allow designers to keep the openess of the internal structure and provide passive fire protection for the required period.
